There was a time when Crystal Palace came very close to signing Christian Kouamé from Genoa for a fee of around €20m.
Then, injury struck and the Eagles pulled out of the deal, leaving Fiorentina time to snap him up at a discount price of €10m.
However, things haven’t worked out for the striker, and with just one goal in Serie A this season, there’s been a lot of talk of an exit.
Leeds have often been linked, but there appears to have been a Crystal Palace resurgence in recent days, with a claim last week Roy Hodgson’s side hadn’t forgotten about the 23-year-old.
This has since been corroborated by Calciomercato, who claim ‘the English team seems ready to knock on Kouamé’s door again to take him to the Premier League’.
They aren’t the only ones interested, with Torino also lurking as they look to give Andrea Belotti help up front.
The Serie A competition has already made a head start, it seems, as Calciomercato add they are ‘trying to intensify relations with the player, with the first contacts having already occurred’.
This suggests Crystal Palace, if they are really interested again, might have to move quickly in order to get their man.
