Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen is leaving the Denmark squad to return to the Eagles due to the injury he picked up over the weekend.

That’s according to Ekstra Bladet, who say Andersen has ‘pulled out’ of the squad and will not feature against Finland on Thursday night.

They say that the centre-back has not recovered from an injury sustained during the warm up before Crystal Palace’s clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

That injury forced him to miss out on the eventual defeat to the Gunners and it seems he has not been able to recover in time to feature for Denmark during the international break.

The Danes have elected to not call up a replacement for the Crystal Palace defender, despite his absence leaving a significant hole in their defence, with Andersen playing a key role for his country as he does at Selhurst Park.

Instead they will make do with what they have, with Simon Kjaer, Andreas Christensen and Victor Nelsson the current options in the squad.
