Milliyet have reported Swansea City and Crystal Palace are showing an interest in Fenerbahçe right back Gregory van der Wiel.
The Turkish club recently signed Maurico Isla from Cagliari and it seems Van der Wiel doesn’t have a future with Fenerbahçe.
Milliyet say Crystal Palace are leading the race for the former Dutch international, and the presence of Frank de Boer is a huge advantage for the club. The pair worked together at Ajax and De Boer could persuade Van der Wiel to join him at Crystal Palace.
However, Swansea City manager Paul Clement is also showing an interest in the Dutchman, and it’s likely Van der Wiel would join either club, given they can both give him Premier League football. It’s now looking like Crystal Palace and Swansea City will fight it out for the Netherlands international.
Van der Wiel didn’t enjoy the best of times with Fenerbahçe last season. His Injury record and off-field issues resulted in a dip in form, and he featured only 17 times for the club.
The player is under contract with Fenerbahçe until 2020.
