There was a time when it appeared that Crystal Palace were on the verge of letting Mamadou Sakho go to OGC Nice.
Losing Dante to a serious injury, the Ligue 1 club were looking to add experience to their backline on top of bringing in William Saliba from Arsenal on loan.
That’s where the Crystal Palace centre-back came in, and on January 7th it was believed the France international ‘should be the club’s next signing’, with his profile ‘particularly appreciated’.
However, there’s been little information since then, and part of that could be the difficulties of the negotiations.
That’s according to Eurosport journalist Manu Lonjon, who revealed in a video that Nice are ‘struggling’ with the talks with Crystal Palace, which has led them to turn their attention to a former player of theirs: Fulham’s Maxime Le Marchand.
This information is corroborated by Le10 Sport, who explain that while Sakho is ‘interested’ by the project on offer from the Ligue 1 side, the talks have ‘blocked’ because of the player’s wages.
So far, there is ‘still no agreement’ between the Crystal Palace man and Nice.
Perhaps it’s time to lower said demands?
