Adama Soumaoro’s decision to swap the team he helped qualify for the Champions League for one that battled against relegation for the vast majority of last season was certainly an eyebrow raiser.

Yes, Monaco will pay him more than Lille, but when clubs like Crystal Palace and Everton are also after you, it just felt like the easy option.

Unfortunately for the defender, that transfer collapsed at the last minute, leaving him with a more limited pool of options if L’Equipe are to be believed on Thursday.

The French newspaper state the centre-back is still on the move this summer, and while Crystal Palace are described as a ‘very plausible’ option for him, Everton aren’t even mentioned.

Why that is isn’t stated, but perhaps they just moved on after the initial snub?

Either way, the Eagles are now reportedly battling it out with an unnamed Bundesliga side, who have allegedly made an offer for the 27-year-old.

One thing is made clear, and that’s Soumaoro’s reluctance to go to Italy, so the reported Lazio option is likely to be off the cards.

Crystal Palace vs unnamed Bundesliga side it is, and, who knows, maybe Everton will make a reappearance late on?
