Crystal Palace have seen an €8m bid for Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan rejected, with the Turkish club holding out for €12m.
That’s according to Fotomac, who say Palace are likely to return with an improved bid for the midfielder soon.
Tufan has been heavily linked with a move to Selhurst Park for the last fortnight, with Roy Hodgson seemingly eager to improve his squad this month.
Reports in Turkey initially stated that they had seen a €10m bid rejected, although that has since been pulled back with Fener chief Emre insisting there had not been an official offer from Crystal Palace or any of the player’s suitors.
Nonetheless, Palace have continued to be linked with a move as the Super Lig side debate internally whether to let their star player leave.
Fotomac now reporte they ‘turned down without thinking’ an €8m offer for Tufan from Crystal Palace and have made it clear they will only ‘open the door’ for the midfielder at €12m.
They are unwilling to ‘compromise’ on that price as the player is considered ‘indispensable’, despite the arrival of Mesut Ozil from Arsenal.
It’s believed that Palace will ‘increase their offer significantly’ although that €12m price tag is also expected to ‘increase further’, perhaps to the €15m asking price that was claimed a week ago.
Whether that’s a fee the Premier League side are willing to pay remains to be seen, but what is clear is that they are interested and this is one to keep an eye on as the end of the window approaches.
