Paulo Diaz’s departure from Al Ahli has been seen as very likely for a while. And now that he’s been left out of the Asia Champions League squad, it’s practically certain he’s leaving the club this summer.
Meanwhile, the South American media continues to name two possible destinations for the player: River Plate and Crystal Palace.
Argentine outlet Olé has a story on the issue, of course focusing on the chances the Buenos Aires side have to land the player.
They say an agreement between clubs is getting closer, despite River Plate’s struggles to match Al Ahli’s demands.
However, Olé also report that Crystal Palace ‘have been asking’ about the conditions of a deal, and could have the resources to afford Diaz’s US$5m release clause.
A deal with the Premier League side is said to be Al Ahli’s favourite option, but it’s claimed the player has another opinion, giving his preference to a move to Argentina.
River Plate have been in great form lately, winning two Copa Libertadores titles in the last four editions. But would a 24-year-old really skip the chance of moving to the Premier League to play in Argentina?
