Italian giants Juventus officially confirmed today that midfielder Aaron Ramsey has tested positive for Covid-19, and will therefore stay in insolation for the coming days.
Now the coverage in the Italian media isn’t only because the 31-year-old will be unavailable for the Old Lady in the upcoming fixtures, but also because that may impact a potential move in the January transfer window.
As Tuttosport covers the story, they point out that Crystal Palace and Newcastle United had both been interested in bringing Ramsey back to the Premier League.
It’s said the Eagles and Magpies are ‘leading the list of suitors’ for the midfielder, and ‘the only possible destiny’ seems to be his return to English football.
However, it’s now unclear if he’ll be able to sort out a move whilst isolated and then recovering from the virus.
Crystal Palace and Newcastle have indeed both been heavily linked to Ramsey in the past couple of weeks, but their interest seem to be at different stages. While recent updates said the Eagles’ bid is on the table, the Magpies are said to be waiting to actually move for him.
The midfielder hasn’t featured for Juventus since October, and the Old Lady are expected to facilitate any potential move.
