On Friday, France Football had a rather interesting story regarding the future of former Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan, with Crystal Palace allegedly interested in his services.
In talks to be released from his contract by cash-strapped Anzhi Makhachkala (karma, eh?), the French winger was reportedly being handed another chance by the Premier League, yet if Le10 Sport in France are to be believed, Sam Allardyce could miss out on his man.
The French website claim that Montpellier in Ligue 1 are currently in talks to try and bring in the 27-year-old, and claim Obertan would be tempted by a return to France over a move to England (Crystal Palace), a country he hasn’t played in since leaving Bordeaux in 2009.
Obertan, who left Newcastle in May after cancelling his contract with the Championship club, signed for the Russian side in August, for whom he played nine times, picking up a goal and an assist along the way.
