Crystal Palace have identified Watford’s Edo Kayembe as a transfer target for next season, according to Africa Foot.

The midfielder arrived at Vicarage Road from Belgian side KAS Eupen in January 2022 and has been a regular since last season.

He managed five goals and two assists from 35 league games last season and has seven goals and an assist from 32 Championship games in this campaign. Kayembe’s performances for Watford have seen Crystal Palace take notice.

Africa Foot state the 26-year-old is the ‘pillar’ of Watford’s midfield and has attracted attention from elsewhere. Crystal Palace get a mention and are eyeing a move for him in the next window.

Ipswich Town had recently looked into signing the player, but it’s not reported why they didn’t go ahead.

The report states he has another opportunity to return to the English top flight, if Crystal Palace were to secure his services.

In this way, Kayembe could ’embrace a new challenge’ with the Eagles next season. For now it’s to early to predict whether Crystal Palace will convert their interest into an offer in the summer.

Watford are currently ninth in the Championship table with 45 points, trailing sixth placed Bristol City by four points, with a game in hand.
