Crystal Palace are in the picture to sign Montpellier’s Junior Sambia in the summer.

Operating mainly as a right-back, he has also been used higher up the pitch on a few occasions this season. The defender made 28 appearances in the league, which includes 16 starts.

The 25-year-old initially joined the Ligue 1 side on loan in 2017, before his stay was made permanent a year later. His contract runs down at the end of the season and he’s attracted interest from elsewhere since the last window.

According to Le10 Sport, several clubs have ‘clearly positioned’ themselves to sign the defender. In the winter market, Marseille showed interest in him, before their leaders decided to wait until the end of the season.

At the moment, Marseille are not the ‘most active’ French club after Sambia. Instead, it’s Strasbourg, who are ‘forcing to try to sign’ the versatile player.

Apart from Strasbourg, there is another club, from the Premier League, that have joined the mix and that’s when the Eagles are tagged. That’s all they mention about Crystal Palace.

Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne are the two right-backs currently at Selhurst Park and their deals will run down in 2023 and 2022 respectively. Sambia could take the place of the former Liverpool man at Palace, if they manage to secure his services on a free transfer.
