Trabzonspor midfielder Batista Mendy has told the French media he wants to move on in the summer.

The 24-year-old has been a long-term target for Crystal Palace, along with a number of other clubs in Europe.

Speaking to L’Equipe ahead of last night’s Turkish Cup final between Trabzonspor and Galatasaray, the Frenchman was asked about his future.

The central midfielder said he’s ready to move following interest from other clubs in the past two transfer windows, and that he now he wants to play in a bigger league.

“Yes, I had set myself the goal of staying in Trabzon for two years and trying to reach the biggest leagues. It’s the right time. There were clubs last summer, but these clubs did not reach an agreement with the management. This summer, I hope to have a good exit if Trabzonspor finds the right deal,” said the Frenchman.

Again, L’Equipe have credited Crystal Palace with interest in Mendy following claims last summer the Premier League side made an attempt to sign him.

In January there were reports the Eagles were still monitoring the situation with the player, but weren’t prepared to make their move during that transfer window. Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Doğan has reportedly set his player’s value at €20m.

Mendy has started 28 league games this season and is contracted to Trabzonspor until June 2027, with the option for a year extension.
