In the space of one paragraph, Crystal Palace’s interest in Celta Vigo winger Brais Méndez is today reported and ruled out by the Spanish media.
El Desmarque feature a story which states the player is close to moving to Real Sociedad, as even though the transfer isn’t done, the parties are very close to reaching an agreement.
After that, they point out that Méndez had been wanted by other clubs outside of Spain. Crystal Palace are said to be one of them, along with Portuguese giants FC Porto.
El Desmarque, however, point out a move to Selhurst Park would be ‘out of equation’ now, even though they don’t explain why that would be. With Porto also discarded, the Uruguayan is expected to move to Real Sociedad for around €14m plus bonuses.
As well Crystal Palace, Méndez had already been linked to other English clubs such as Norwich City and Southampton last year.
Last season, the 25-year-old played 40 matches, scoring five goals and adding six assists.
