We won’t bore you with the previous relationship Crystal Palace have had with Christian Kouamé since you probably already know it, but recent reports have made it clear the Eagles aren’t giving up on the Ivorian.
The young striker has struggled for regular game time at Fiorentina ever since his £10m or so move from Genoa, and while that might have put off a few clubs, Roy Hodgson and co. remain keen.
That’s what the recent articles have claimed, and Corriere dello Sport continue in that vein on Tuesday, making it clear Crystal Palace have been ‘courting him for some time’.
However, there is competition from Italy, with Torino ‘serious’ about making a move for him.
That’s why his agent, Michelangelo Minieri, ‘met with the Fiorentina board’ on Monday to discuss his client’s situation.
The reunion wasn’t particularly fruitful as ‘no decision has been taken for now’, but it suggests there could be movement in the near future.
That means Crystal Palace might need to get their behind in gear if they don’t want to miss out on Kouamé a second time.
