Onyekuru

With all the interest currently surrounding Wilfried Zaha, it wouldn’t be surprising if Crystal Palace were having a look around for a replacement just in case a too-good-to-refuse offer landed on their desk in the coming months.

And, according to OwnGoalNigeria, it appears that man has been found, and his name is Henry Onyekuru.

Since this is the first time the youngster has been linked with the Eagles, let us give you a brief rundown of who he is.

The 19-year-old winger currently plays for KAS Eupen in Belgium’s top league, and has made a name for himself this season by scoring 20 goals in 38 appearances, as well as picking up nine assists.

Capable of playing on both wings as well as through the middle, Onyekuru has attracted a lot of interest recently, especially from the Premier League, with Everton and Southampton heavily linked.

However, a source close to the player told OwnGoalNigeria that Crystal Palace had come forward and contacted the player’s agent to give him a heads up they are interested.

The club are yet to contact Eupen about this, as this just appeared to be to let him know they are an option for him to consider next season when a decision will need to be made.

However, they will have to act quickly, as the same website also reports Everton have made a £5m bid for Onyekuru, which is still some way off what Eupen are asking for (around £7m up front + bonuses).

As we’ve only just recently come across OwnGoalNigeria, it’s hard to determine whether or not they are entirely reliable until a few moves involving players they’ve reported on go through, but it wouldn’t be surprising if a local website had a few contacts here and there, allowing for such stories.
