Crystal Palace are eyeing a move for Benfica winger Jan-Niklas Beste in the January transfer window.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri writing for Sky Sports Switzerland, who reports that Crystal Palace have ‘fallen under the spell’ of the German midfielder.
He states that Crystal Palace are looking to add a left-winger to their squad in January and like Beste, who impressed at Werder Bremen last season but has struggled at Benfica since arriving in the summer.
He’s not met the expectations of current manager Bruno Lage and has now ‘opened the door’ to a move to Selhurst Park in January.
Talks between his advisors and ‘the leaders’ of Crystal Palace are already well underway so they can find an agreement with Benfica to sign him.
The Portuguese side are open to doing business but only want to sell the winger on a permanent basis. That would presumably include making back, at least, the €8m they spent to sign him in the summer.
There’s no indication of an asking price, though, so it cold be more. Tavolieri also makes no mention of what Crystal Palace are willing to pay or, indeed, if they are willing to pay at all.
But talks are underway with the player and Benfica so expect more on this in the coming weeks as they look to strengthen Oliver Glasner’s squad.
