Crystal Palace have ‘already approached’ Julen Lopetegui about potentially replacing Roy Hodgson, but Nottingham Forest are ‘the most interested’ in the Spanish manager.
That’s according to Marca, who cover Lopetegui today as he continues to bide his time and wait for a job in the Premier League.
The Spanish coach left Wolves in the summer after a disagreement with those in charge over the direction they were going to move in after he successfully led them from relegation trouble last year.
That success has seen him linked with jobs in England throughout this campaign, although the lack of managerial departures in the Premier League, means there have not been opportunities for him.
Marca continue that today, explaining that since leaving Wolves in August the Basque coach has been ‘updating himself’ by watching a lot of live football and visiting the likes of Manchester City to chat with Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain. He also held a three-hour meeting with England boss Gareth Southgate.
He is very much ‘waiting’ for a job to come up and Nottingham Forest are the one who have ‘sounded out’ his availability as the pressure increases on Steve Cooper.
They’re the ‘most interested’ in him at this moment in time although Crystal Palace have ‘already approached’ him as well in case they decide to part ways with Roy Hodgson.
It seems to be between Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest for the Spanish boss then, who continues to enjoy a good reputation in England, where interest in him seems to rise as the weeks go by.
