French newspaper L’Equipe are reporting on Monday evening that Crystal Palace have agreed a €38m fee with Marseille to sign Michy Batshuayi.
Crystal Palace are said to also be close to signing Batshuayi’s Marseille teammate from last season, goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
Batshuayi has been most strongly linked with West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, with talks taking place with both clubs, but neither have made a bid as high as that from Palace, hence Marseille accepting.
Marseille need to sell for financial reasons, Batshuayi himself certainly hasn’t been pushing for a move.
It’s now down to the young striker, with Marseille likely to encourage him to move, with the player himself almost certainly expecting a better destination.
L’Equipe say that West Ham, Tottenham, Juventus and Atletico Madrid remain in the picture, but Crystal Palace have beaten them all to agreeing a fee.
