Over the past few weeks, Nottingham Forest have been working on signing RCD Mallorca’s Pablo Maffeo.

Marca reported yesterday that Nottingham Forest have made an offer of €5m plus €1.5m in potential bonuses. They also said Mallorca sporting director Pablo Ortells wants the Reds to meet his €8m request.

Tuesday’s edition of AS reports the La Liga club haven’t accepted Nottingham Forest’s bid of €5m plus bonuses for the right-back.

Mallorca initially valued the 28-year-old at €10m, which Nuno Espírito Santo’s side refused to meet ,and Marca’s latest report stated their demand is €8m.

AS say the Spanish club’s intention is now to close his sale for €7m, meaning they have further lowered the price.

The newspaper adds the two clubs continue to negotiate, knowing that this case can’t be delayed much longer. Maffeo is determined to join the Premier League side, and everything suggests he won’t travel with Mallorca to Austria for the pre-season tour.

Marca journalist Juanmi Sánchez took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that there were no further developments on Monday. He adds ‘today is another day in a crucial week for his departure’.

Nottingham Forest have now seen Mallorca come down from €10m to €7m, so it’s a case of balancing the possibility of them reducing the fee further or just going ahead and getting a deal done.
