Bayern Munich are facing a fresh injury concern ahead of their Champions League match against Arsenal this week. Both Arsene Wenger and Carlo Ancelotti have had to manage around injuries at stages this season, but the Italian won’t want to lose any more big players between now and the Arsenal match.

That’s why Xabi Alonso hobbling out of training, clearly in pain, is a blow for Bayern Munich, and a boost for Arsenal. German newspaper Bild report that Alonso appeared to hurt his right knee in training and then had to be helped to a golf cart which took him inside Bayern’s facilities.

Bild have gone into full panic mode on behalf of Bayern, and the chance of Alonso missing the Arsenal match is currently the newspaper’s major story.

Jerome Boateng and Franck Ribery are also set to miss the Arsenal match, and Wenger has experienced his own worries with Santi Cazorla out long term and Aaron Ramsey recently picking up a strain.

The match is one of the most anticipated of the first knock-out round of the Champions League, with Arsenal once again finding themselves a tough draw.
