Earlier on Wednesday, we covered an article from Tuttosport that touched on Mario Mandzukić’s situation at Juventus.

We didn’t go into too much detail on the matter, as it was a lot of the same stuff, and the interesting information was about Emre Can.

However, it’s worth remembering the striker is having a hard time in Turin under Maurizio Sarri, and despite turning down a move to Manchester United in the summer, he would likely be open to one now.

It’s been well documented by English and Italian press members alike that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likes the idea of having a player like Mandzukić at Old Trafford, and, according to Croatian coach Robert Jarni, it’s a solution that would suit all parties.

He told DerbyDerbyDerby (great name) in Italy: “I’m sad for Mario. He lived a similar experience when he was at Bayern Munich after the arrival of Guardiola. He’s a centre forward who gives his all on the pitch and he had found the perfect chemistry with Ronaldo. Manchester United would be the best solution for him”.

While there isn’t a player of Cristiano Ronaldo’s stature at Old Trafford these days, there are plenty of players who could use Mandzukić’s attributes to their advantage, whether it be his heading for a few crosses or his ability to hold up the ball and let runners (which they have many of) go beyond him.

Anthony Martial was the designated striker in the early days of the campaign, but an injury picked up against Crystal Palace has seen him miss a lot of game time, which has shown in the club’s goalscoring output ever since.

Having someone like Mandzukić at the club to help out would have certainly been useful for Solskjaer in the Frenchman’s absence, meaning it isn’t surprising to see a number of reports suggesting this one could be on of the January transfer United are plotting behind the scenes.
