Croatian newspaper 24Sata have a big feature today on Slaven Bilic, and just how popular the manager is making himself among West Brom’s support.
The newspaper seem especially pleased having heard a fan chant during the club’s last game against Stoke City. Supporters sing of Bilic hating local rivals Aston Villa, and being from Croatia, with the latter part always likely to get attention in the manager’s home country.
24Sata point out for a Croatian audience that the victory over Stoke City was Bilic’s 50th in English football. That’s spread between the two clubs he’s managed, 42 victories with West Ham and a further eight as manager of West Brom.
Explaining West Brom fans ‘adore’ their own ‘Super Slav’, a local audience are told just how difficult it is to get promoted to the Premier League.
The Baggies are currently top of the Championship, yet there’s not a lot of points separating the teams at the top, and whilst 24Sata are confident their man can do it, there’s warnings sent out for Croatia’s new West Brom fans not too get complacent.
West Brom are clearly growing in Croatia.
