Villarreal appear to be falling apart without Unai Emery as their manager, with the Aston Villa manager sorely missed at the Spanish club.
That’s according to Sport, who say that the ‘crisis has no end’ at the club, having started with Emery’s departure to Aston Villa and not stopped.
They explain that the defeat to Las Palmas last weekend demonstrated the critical situation that the Yellow Submarine are going through.
They’ve picked up eight points from a possible 27, leading to their fans to show discontent by whistling at captain Dani Parejo for a passage of play when his side were 2-0 down in stoppage time.
Parejo did not like the gesture at all and after finishing the game, spoke to the press and clearly showed his discontent, insisting the whistling was not good for him or the team.
He’s more than aware of the club’s poor form and problems but Sport say the reality is that their ‘sporting crisis’ comes from afar.
The project at the club ‘has been falling apart’ since Emery left to join Aston Villa last year, with the club making a mistake in choosing Quique Setien as his replacement.
He was not up to the par and the squad ended up falling out with him. His replacement, Pacheta, hasn’t been able to turn things around either.
It’s a far cry from how things were with Emery, whose departure started a slide downwards that is yet to stop.
