A week ago, Foot Mercato reported that Lucas Digne is having ‘more troubles’ at Everton and his relationship with Rafael Benítez has become ‘untenable’.
The left-back has not featured in the last three league matches and the impending arrival of Dynamo Kyiv’s Vitaliy Mykolenko could see the 28-year-old drop further down the pecking order.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan have identified the defender as a transfer target for the January window.
The Serie A winners are in the market looking for a fullback, who can provide cover and competition to Ivan Perišić. This is where the France international fits in and for the Toffees man to arrive at the San Siro, they ‘wait for a positive response’ from Everton.
Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta, and sporting director, Piero Ausilio, will only consider taking the former Barcelona man on loan with right of redemption, and Gazzetta say there is ‘creeping underlying optimism’ that a deal can be done.
A temporary move to Milan will allow Digne to ‘reassess himself’ and also give him an opportunity to ‘return to his heights’.
If the loan deal goes though and should the fullback shine for Inter, the Nerazzurri can then talk about making the transfer permanent next summer.
