Rumours in the South American media this week have been linking Chelsea to the Velez Sarsfield defender Luis Abram.

But before the story could get any bigger, Peruvian outlet Depor came out explaining this is fake news.

They’ve published an article saying the rumour came from a fake page of Argentine outlet Olé. That story was saying that Abram had actually signed for Chelsea.

Besides finding where the rumour started, Depor also managed to speak to Velez Sarsfield director Rodrigo Rapisarda, who dismissed the story as well.

“We have nothing, there hasn’t even been communication with Chelsea in recent days,” Rapisarda told Depor.

“With all this coronavirus situation the club is stopped, we only work remotely, but we haven’t received anything for Luis Abram. Of course, they watch him because he is a very good player, but we have no offers from Chelsea.”

Luis Abram is a 24-year-old defender who’s been playing in Argentina since 2018, following a €500k move from Peruvian side Sporting Cristal.

With 22 appearances for Velez Sarsfield this season, he’s been a solid player both for the club and for the Peruvian national team. But he hasn’t even been linked to Chelsea by serious outlets, so that’s where this rumour should come to an end.
