Sadio Mane has been speaking to Marca, but it’s nothing to worry about for Liverpool fans.
Often when a footballer speaks to the Spanish newspaper there’s a few transfer hints thrown in, and it all feels set up to help a move through to Real Madrid or another La Liga club, but that’s not the case with Mane who was chatting on behalf of his boot sponsor.
The interview is mainly the usual stuff, Mane doesn’t want to pick one of the Premier league or Champions League to aim for at Liverpool, as he believes the team can go for both trophies as an aim.
One interesting question is who would win in a race: Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane.
The latter was pretty clear and certainly not afraid to say it: “Yes, of course, I’m faster. Maybe not in short distances, but over 100m or 200m I win for sure.”
Asked about Jurgen Klopp, Mane replied: “Everyone knows and speaks wonders of his personality. He is a guy who loves what he does, who motivates you, who improves you at all times. Raises your level on the pitch. He has a special relationship with the players and that motivates us.”
Asking about ending Liverpool’s league title drought this season, Mane said: We are a great club, Liverpool. We want to do something special, but without bringing excessive pressure. Now everyone is talking about us, but we have to go calmly, game by game. Let’s not talk about trophies now, it’s early. This has just begun.”
