On Thursday, we covered the latest claims on Joselu moving to Alaves and explained it was a transfer rumour which could make you lose the will to live.

Since the beginning of June the player’s transfer away from Newcastle United has reportedly been on the verge of being done, with all kinds of excuses given for the lack of anything actually happening.

On June 11th, it was reported official confirmation was ‘a matter of hours away’. Technically, anything is a matter of hours away if it actually happens, but more than three weeks is probably stretching the boundaries.

Today something has happened, hurrah! Alaves sports director Sergio Fernandez has been quizzed on the Newcastle forward.

At the presentation of genuine real-life signing Pere Pons, he was quoted by AS as saying: “Of course I like him, but his rights belong to another club.”

So, there’s no agreement. Not yet anyway.

Fernandez teased that Alaves have more signings in the works. Hopefully, one of those can be Joselu, just get on with it Sergio.
