Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has spoken with Turkish athletes competing in different sports and has asked Leicester City’s Caglar Soyuncu where will he be playing next season.
As covered by Sabah, Erdogan made a video conference call with the Turkish defender and quizzed him about the latest transfer rumours, amid reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.
Answering the question, the 23 year old said his agent is taking care of the transfer business and that he hasn’t given any hint about the situation.
Soyuncu was restricted to just four starts last season after making his move to Leicester City from Freiburg in 2019, but this season he’s established himself as a key player for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Taking the opportunity after Harry Maguire’s departure, Soyuncu has formed a solid partnership with Jonny Evans, and he’s one of the key reasons for Leicester City’s success this season.
This year the Turkish international has made 35 appearances for the Foxes in all competitions, scoring one goal.
His contract with Leicester City will expire at the end of June 2023.
