Nicolas Pépé swapped Lille for Arsenal in the summer transfer window and after coming off the bench in the first two matches, Unai Emery started the Ivory Coast international against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The north London derby was the Emirates side’s last tie before the international break and the winger played the full 90 minutes for his new club.

Ivory Coast head coach Ibrahim Kamara included Pépé in his squad for the upcoming friendly ties against Benin and Tunisia.

Les Éléphants started preparation earlier this week and on Thursday, the Ivory Coast football association’s confirmed on their official website the Arsenal player arrived at the national camp with an injury.

“Nicolas Pépé, injured with his club, came in to declare it late on Wednesday afternoon,” a statement read.

They don’t specify details of Pépé’s injury nor there is anything to suggest how long the 24-year-old will be out of action.

Arsenal travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford on September 15th and Emery will be hoping Pépé will be fit on time to face the Hornets.
