It doesn’t matter if Claudio Bravo is present or absent, fit or injured. He will always be a subject in the Chilean national team, mostly because of the controversies around him in the past.

Midfielder Charles Aránguiz has spoken to Canal del Futebol this weekend, and when asked about Claudio Bravo’s possible return to La Roja in the future, he’s claimed that there should be a conversation about it.

“Everything depends on what Claudio wants. If he doesn’t want to talk, you have to respect him. It is in his right, but I point to the football: if he is well and the coach calls him, welcome. It would be good to have a conversation between men in the dressing room,” Aranguiz told Canal del Futebol (via La Tercera).

“We all want the best for Chile. And when you wear the shirt of the national team it does not matter if the one next to you is your friend.”

“Like Bravo has it difficult. The goalkeepers have been the best in friendlies. We all have to give our best. Nobody has the position assured. Everything will depend on the coach. He has to put together the squad and we comply. For my part, I will give my best to be in. The desire to fight for the Copa América and to fight to go again to a World Cup are intact.”

Claudio Bravo hasn’t played for the national team since October 2017, as rebelled against the ANFP right after Chile were left out of the 2018 World Cup. When a new regime took over, the Manchester City player wanted to choose his own goalkeeping coach and refused to join up when that request was knocked back.

Due to an achilles tendon rupture, he should only be available for Manchester City again in late March 2019.
