Now plying his trade at Turkish side Medipol Basaksehir, former Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor has been quizzed about his time in the Premier League.
Speaking to Hurriyet, Adebayor was asked about his time in England, and his move from Manchester City to Tottenham: “Then I joined Tottenham and I was forced out of club when Villas Boas came in. After that the move to Crystal Palace followed. I left some top clubs but the Crystal Palace departure hurt me the most.”
The forward was then asked to describe Andre Villas Boas in one sentence and made it clear he’s not the Portuguese coach’s biggest fan: “Not enough knowledge of the game.”
Adebayor had something of a controversial career in the Premier League, but at times showed his undoubted talent. His move to Manchester City didn’t go down too well with the Arsenal fans, which was made worse when he joined their local rivals Tottenham.
Signed by Harry Redknapp initially on loan from Manchester City, Adebayor had an up and down spell with Tottenham. The Togo international showed early promise when he arrived at White Hart Lane, but under Andre Villa Boas he was frozen out, and made to train with the youth team.
The 33 year old left Tottenham by mutual consent in 2015, and would go on to have a brief spell with Crystal Palace before his move to Turkey.
