In the past couple of days, we’ve been covering the updates from newspaper Record which say Sporting president Frederico Varandas is close to finding an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the transfer fee of Rui Patrício.
On Monday, Record claimed that Varandas was on his way to London, and today, it was said that a deal was found in the English capital.
But outlet O Jogo is not so sure of that, and brings a very different take in today’s issue.
The newspaper brings a short text on Tuesday claiming that Varandas is actually still in Lisbon, and is not leaving Portugal to deal with transfer subjects for now.
It’s claimed that since last week, Varandas has been planning trips to England and Spain to solve the cases of Patrício, now at Wolves, and Gelson Martins, at Atletico Madrid. But things haven’t been that advanced so far, and he’s currently dealing with these issues from Sporting’s headquarters.
As always, it should be a matter of time until we see which newspaper is right. But considering Record’s front page story and O Jogo’s discreet article, it’s fair to say that the first one is more confident of their information.
