Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly has been strongly linked to Chelsea, but reports suggest Everton are also interested in the player.
And, as is the way when an English club is linked to a Serie A player, there are many reports in Italy, and some which contradict one another.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio reported Everton have already made an offer of €40m, and are serious about their interest. It’s not the only Italian claim of the club making an offer.
According to Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, Everton haven’t made an offer yet for Koulibaly, but could make one in the next couple of days. The player has refused to sign a new contract, after the club didn’t offer him a contract renewal in the winter.
The Senegalese defender is on the wish-list of several clubs, and it remains to be seen if Everton can convince him to switch to Merseyside. The salary package the club would offer would surely be crucial.
Talks of a move to Chelsea have appeared to cool down, and that can be advantage for Everton.
