Chelsea announced on Thursday a new deal with Trevoh Chalobah, who’s signed a long-term contract with the club.
The 22-year-old, who’s been having his first starts for the Blues under Thomas Tuchel this season, has now committed his future to them until 2026.
Now it turns out that Chalobah’s agreement is seen by the Spanish media as a sign that another defender should be leaving the Stamford Bridge soon.
When reporting his renewal, outlet Sport points out that the ‘move’ made by Chelsea could push Antonio Rudiger closer to signing for Real Madrid.
The German player has a contract with the Blues expiring at the end of the season, and with no sign of a renewal yet, there are several sides who’ve been following the situation, including the La Liga giants
Sport writes that Chalobah’s new deal ‘could leave the door open for Rudiger’s potential departure’, even though he’s an ‘indisputable piece’ in Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Real Madrid are just one of the clubs who’ve been linked to Rudiger lately, as Bayern Munich and Italian clubs are said to be monitoring the chances of signing him as a free agent as well.
