Sampdoria’s Luis Muriel has been in impressive form recently, and has bagged 3 goals and 2 assists in his last three games. The Colombian star was tipped to achieve great things when he was at Udinese, but slightly faded away.

With 8 goals and 5 assists to his name this season, Muriel is in the limelight once again, and there seems to be interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Chelsea could consider signing the 25-year-old next summer. It’s been reported Muriel has a release clause of €28m, and that shouldn’t be an issue for Chelsea should they genuinely be interested in signing him.

La Repubblica, however, believe Muriel must perform consistently over the season to convince Antonio Conte, who has been a fan in the past. Napoli are also said to be interested, but then the Serie A club have been linked to a number of forwards in the last few weeks.

Conte’s senior striking options at Chelsea right now are Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi, with the club also owning a number of talented youngster in the position.

Muriel signed for Sampdoria last summer in a €10.5m deal and has a contract until 2019.
