Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in AS Roma star Nicolò Zaniolo continues to be discussed in the Italian media.
Calciomercato now claim the north London club are in the picture for the winger because of the Antonio Conte ‘factor’.
The former Chelsea manager is ‘insisting a lot’ with Fabio Paratici to sign the 23-year-old because Conte ‘wants to see him with the Spurs shirt’.
This may not happen soon since Tottenham have not yet presented the ‘maxi-offer’ that could make the Serie A ‘waiver’.
In fact, the Italy international is closer to signing a new contract with the Giallorossi than making a switch to the Premier League.
The feeling with the fans, José Mourinho’s confidence, and the club club’s current status, with Paulo Dybala and Tammy Abraham, has left Zaniolo ‘charged and motivated’.
Although the player’s sale was seen as likely a few weeks ago, there has now been a radical change in his situation.
Zaniolo and Mourinho’s side will enter into negotiations over a new contract in September. His agent, Claudio Vigorelli, is in no hurry and has already specified his client’s request, which is a deal worth €4.5m per season until 2027.
Amid Conte’s insistence to sign the Roma star, he is likely to stay at his club and sign a new deal.
