Romelu Lukaku and Antonio Conte left Inter Milan after playing a vital role in helping them win the title last season.

The Nerazzurri sold the striker to Chelsea in the last window, while Conte, who parted ways with Inter in May, returned to management when Tottenham Hotpsur appointed him as Nuno Espírito Santo’s successor in November.

Last week, the 28-year-old publicly expressed his unhappiness at the west London club and opened the door to return to Inter. He also heaped praise on the Spurs manager.

According to Quotidiano.net, the Serie A winners have different plans for the future, in which the Belgium international is unlikely to have any place. Having sold the player to Chelsea for €115m, Inter have no intention to pay big to re-sign Lukaku.

It’s different when it comes to Conte as the report states the Spurs manager is ‘still in love’ with the player. Their title states ‘Lukaku separated at home, Conte is waiting for him’.

Conte currently has Harry Kane at his disposal and the Italian has given new life to the club captain, who struggled earlier in the season. The report makes it clear that Tottenham would possibly think of Lukaku, but only if the England international is sold next summer.

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel admitted the Blues have scheduled a meeting with Lukaku to learn why he made those comments. The manager left the striker out of the squad to face Liverpool.

The tie at Stamford Bridge ended in a 2-2 draw on Sunday.
