If there’s one area where Juventus certainly seem blessed, it’s in midfield.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Claudio Marchisio (albeit currently injured), Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic and so on are all great players in that area of the pitch, yet they never seem to be enough.
At least, that’s what the Italian press would have you believe.
According to Tuttosport, Juventus have made contact with Chelsea about Nemanja Matic, who they say probably won’t be a part of Antonio Conte’s plans.
The Serie A club’s enquiries were met with three points:
• Firstly, yes, Conte would be prepared to let him go as Matic is not a priority in the manager’s eyes.
• Secondly, Juventus would like for the deal to be a loan with a view to buy at the end, but Chelsea want the deal to be a straight transfer, so no loan.
• Thirdly, and finally, the cost, which stands at £20m.
As for the player, Beppe Marotta and co. are convinced to be able to persuade him to come to Juventus, especially if Conte doesn’t see him as a key player for his squad.
Matic to Juventus has been discussed a lot over the past six months, and it’s just reappeared out of nowhere.
Expect a lot more of this over the coming weeks.
