With Salernitana still interested in the signing of Pape Matar Sarr from Tottenham Hotspur, they now made their stance about that transfer very clear.
Club director Lucas Esposito was interviewed by TuttoMercatoWeb on their Twitch channel, and among the many subjects he was asked about, there was the pursuit for the Spurs player.
It’s claimed that club director Morgan De Sanctis has held direct contacts with Tottenham chief Fabio Paratici, and there’s now an ‘ultimatum’ for the transfer.
“Salernitana likes Tottenham’s Sarr but Conte doesn’t want to sell him, De Sanctis gave Paratici an ultimatum until Monday, otherwise he will turn to Bove at Roma,” Esposito told TuttoMercatoWeb’s Twitch channel (via Tutto Salernitana).
This all comes after claims on Tuesday that Salernitana had given Tottenham 48 hours to make a decision, although it now seems they have chosen to extend that, such is their desire to sign the Senegal international
Tottenham spent €16.8m to sign Sarr from French side Metz in the summer of 2021, but couldn’t really give him many chances of featuring for the club so far.
He was first immediately sent back to the Ligue 1 side on a season-long loan deal, and now, despite being part of Antonio Conte’s squad, he only made three appearances for Spurs.
Two of them as a late sub in the Premier League, and a full game in a FA Cup clash against Portsmouth.
But with Conte apparently resisting against his transfer, perhaps there are still bigger plans for the player this season.
