Last Friday, Nemanja Matić announced his decision to leave Manchester United at the end of the current season.
The midfielder joined the Red Devils from Chelsea in 2017, when José Mourinho was in charge at Old Trafford. The move saw him reunite with the Portuguese tactician as the pair had previously worked together at the west London club.
Mourinho is currently in charge at AS Roma and the Manchester United player could have another opportunity to play under his former manager.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Serie A side are already at work over signings, and they are putting ‘strong pressure’ to land the former Serbia international in the summer.
With Matić set to leave Manchester United, the report states the ‘contacts have started’ between the Giallorossi and the 33-year-old over a potential transfer.
The Red Devils midfielder’s profile is ‘strongly desired’ by Mourinho, and the manager has given the green light for Roma to sign Matić.
It’s claimed there are ‘good feelings’ about the deal taking shape after this season.
As for whether it gets done, only time will tell…
