Now that the Italian media have once again got the idea of an Erik Lamela return in their heads, it’s not going to go anywhere.
In fact, it’s never gone so far away from the Serie A rumour mill, even when Lamela was out with his long term fitness issues. A return to Roma was often rumoured, with Walter Sabatini being the director of football who brought the Tottenham player to Europe.
With Sabatini now at Inter Milan, and with the Nerazzurri being linked with more players than any other Italian team, the rumour pieces fit into place.
Tuttosport report that Inter have been interested for a while and contact with Lamela’s entourage was ‘reestablished at the end of January’.
The Italian newspaper believe Tottenham signing Lucas Moura is a reason for a transfer to be possible in the summer, and they explain as much.
However, it’s stated Lamela is happy in London and not pushing for an exit, so the only likely way Spurs sell is if the club want to move on to other options.
That could be the case if Malcom interest carries on to the summer window, and if Tottenham can get for Lamela what they’d pay Bordeaux for Malcom, it could be a scenario which unfolds.
