Aston Villa are in the picture to sign Juventus’ Weston McKennie in the January window, according to a claim from Italy.

The USMNT midfielder has been a regular for the Serie A side this season when he was fit to feature. Despite this, his future at Juve remains uncertain and the Villans could look to bring him to the Premier League.

Numero Diez had a chat with Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Carlo Laudisa, where he revealed about Aston Villa’s interest in McKennie when asked whether we can expect movements at Juve in the ongoing window.

Laudisa explains the 24-year-old is the only Juve player who is available “for sale” in the winter market.

The journalist further adds “there are contacts” with clubs in England, and in particular, with Unai Emery’s side.

He said: ”[Juventus doing business] will depend on the eventual exit of McKennie, the only player for sale. There are contacts with the Premier League, with Aston Villa in particular and we’ll see. If that exit were to materialise, a loan could be outlined for a deputy Cuadrado, for a winger.”

If the Old Lady were to end up earning through McKennie’s sale, they would use the funds to sign a wing-back on loan to provide cover for Juan Cuadrado.

Apart from Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth have an interest in the former Schalke man. On Monday, Calciomercato reported the Cherries have taken concrete steps to sign McKennie, who is valued at €35+40m by Juventus.
