Reports continue in the Italian media about Adrien Rabiot potentially leaving Juventus in the January window.
The midfielder, who arrived on a free transfer from PSG in 2019, has been a repeatedly used member of the Juve squad this season. Like a few of his teammates he’s struggled to really be decisive and impress, leading to the idea of getting his high wages off the accounts.
Juventus are currently eighth in the Serie A table, and already find themselves 14 points behind league leaders Napoli. They’re even behind Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma, who have been wobbling in recent weeks.
Newcastle United have been repeatedly pointed out as a potential destination, which is no surprise given Rabiot has been linked with half the Premier League.
Before it was Newcastle, Everton and West Ham were the clubs thought to be considering the Frenchman, however, with Saudi money now backing the Magpies it’s they who are the subject of most stories… and Juve hope.
Calciomercato explain Rabiot is valued around €15m ahead of the January window, and it’s said there’s been ‘contacts with the ambitious Newcastle’.
Despite that, and the potential wages on offer at the English club, Rabiot is said to be looking for an opportunity at a higher level in football. That’s where Real Madrid could come in.
‘A road leads’ to Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti, a manager the midfielder worked well with at PSG. There doesn’t appear to be much in the Madrid claims, other than that Rabiot would surely prefer them to Newcastle, and that he has a good connection with the manager.
This one still looks like a possibility for Newcastle United, should they want it.
