Inter Milan are looking to bolster their attacking division and Napoli’s Dries Mertens has emerged as one of the targets.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Antonio Conte’s side will face competition from Manchester United and Borrusia Dortmund for the Belgium international.

The Red Devils and the Bundesliga side are also looking at the 32-year-old, whose contract with his current employer runs down after this season.

He demanded a two-year deal worth €6m per year, but Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has no plans of granting it. Therefore, there has been ‘contact with Inter and United’.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta’s idea is to sign Mertens on a free transfer next summer because they are considering sending Alexis Sánchez back.

The Chilean arrived at San Siro on loan from United and should Inter decide not to sign him, then the Premier League side will have to find a solution.

TMW only mention there’s been contact between United and Mertens and that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side could provide competition to Inter for his signing.
