Tottenham Hotspur are interested in AS Roma star Gianluca Mancini, the Italian media says.
With the defender scoring on Sunday the winner against Juventus, outlet Calcio Mercato now features a story about his future.
Mancini signed a contract extension with Roma last year, and despite the chance for a new deal in the future, the report points out the ‘contact’ there is with Tottenham.
Calcio Mercato’s story is very short and doesn’t bring any details of Spurs’ chase for the player. All they say is that Mancini is ‘sought’ by several clubs, as besides Antonio Conte’s side, Inter Milan want him as well.
The defender is valued by Transfermarkt at €18m, and following his last renewal with Roma, he has a contract running until 2027.
Mancini had been linked to Tottenham a couple of years ago, but it’s hard to say that those rumours from back then have anything to do with the interest now. That’s because in 2021, following José Mourinho’s departure, it had been said that manager Paulo Fonseca, who was linked to the job at Spurs, would have tipped the club to bring the defender to London with him.
Ironically enough, Tottenham would now need to sign the player from Mourinho himself.
