With Yaser Asprilla staying out of Watford’s matchday squad recently, the Colombian media now shows worry about that situation.
Outlet RCN today features a story commenting on the fact that, despite participating in most of the Hornets games this season, the 19-year-old wasn’t taken to their last two games in the Championship.
It’s said it’s been ‘surprising’ that manager Slaven Bilic suddenly stopped using Asprilla, whose last match for Watford was against Middlesbrough in January.
But there’s actually another reason why the Colombian media is concerned about the player, and that’s his absence for the U-20 national team.
It’s reported that Watford already stopped him from joining the squad for the U-20 South American Championship. And now that Colombia conquered a spot for the U-20 World Cup in May, they’re afraid the Hornets will still choose to hold him, as they’re not obliged to let him go.
RCN is comparing the current situation to what could happen in May, with the player not being used and still not getting released for the international tournament. The fact is that Asprilla was playing for the Hornets when the South American tournament started in the third week of January. So if he’s not being used by Watford in three months, the club’s choice could still be different.
