Earlier on Friday, we covered the latest from the local Naples newspapers regarding the Kalidou Koulibaly situation, and it wasn’t great news for Manchester City.
Despite Fali Ramadani’s attempts to move his client to the north of England, it was made very clear by Il Mattino that his efforts were deemed ‘futile’ as the right offer had yet to appear on Aurelio De Laurentiis’ desk, and the Premier League club’s reluctance to deal directly with the Italians was causing problems.
Either way, they also said the player was ‘dreaming’ of Paris Saint-Germain, which has now been dismissed entirely by another source.
It comes from radio station Radio Marte, who go out of their way to talk about the Ligue 1 club’s interest in the player amid all the speculation.
Relayed by Area Napoli, they said: “Be careful, the Senegalese could stay where he is in the end, as long as he has a salary increase. Could PSG offer Leandro Paredes and money to Napoli for Kalidou? The Argentine earns a lot, it’s a complicated hypothesis.
“He was talked about a year and a half ago, but now he is inside Tuchel’s projects and really earns too much. Koulibaly, on the other hand, prefers Manchester City to PSG. Finally, it’s worth considering Napoli don’t want counterparts: they would prefer to collect only cash from the Senegalese’s sale”.
That has been the line from De Laurentiis for quite some time now, especially amid the Covid-19 transfer window, where it’s widely known (unless you’re Chelsea) that funds are hard to come by.
Having spent a large sum of money on Victor Osimhen, the Napoli president is intent on making a chunk of that back through Koulibaly’s sale, but the right offer simply hasn’t arrived yet.
