The ‘confusion’ surrounding Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri’s move to Leeds United is continuing as the player has been included in the German club’s squad for this weekend.

That’s according to BILD, who say the ‘confusion surrounding’ the potential transfer continues for the time being and his potential switch to Leeds ‘is still open’ at this point.

The newspaper explains that Leeds had hoped to be able to bag the transfer at some point today. They ‘really want’ Amiri and are willing to pay a figure of around €6m to get him.

Reports had indicated that the matter was moving along quickly but then Amiri was on the pitch this morning for Leverkusen’s final training session ahead of the weekend.

He is also a part of the squad named for the clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, with Xabi Alonso confirming as much when questioned on the matter.

That’s led to increased confusion over what’s going on as Amiri is ‘willing to change’ and Leeds are more than willing to pay for him, so it appeared to be a simple matter.

BILD say the question is whether there is ‘another twist’ in the tale, which has already seen Amiri be on the verge of a move to Marseille before that collapsed at the last minute.

They suggest that there is a chance the 26-year-old ‘may now be hoping’ for another offer to arrive so that he doesn’t have to join a club in the Championship.

We’re sure Leeds fans will be hoping that isn’t the case after an already tense and disappointing summer in the transfer window.
