Leicester City are reportedly looking to sign Sassuolo’s Francesco Acerbi. There have been reports claiming the Premier League side are ready to offer €10m for his services.
Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Sassuolo would be very tempted by the offer, and the player is also keen on switching to England.
However, these reports have been dismissed by another Italian media outlet… Calciomercato.
Calciomercato say Leicester have already made an offer for Acerbi, but the Italian defender isn’t up for sale. In fact, it’s been reported the player also wants to stay in Italy, and that could really make it difficult for Leicester.
Leicester are likely to try and convince the club to sell Acerbi, but any movement is expected only in the summer. Inter are also reportedly keen on the 28-year-old, and it remains to be seen if Leicester can make a tempting offer to the player and the club.
Acerbi has 18 months left on his contract at Sassuolo, but contract renewal negotiations haven’t started with the Serie A club. Indeed, that lack of renewal talks could have prompted the claims of Leicester interest, maybe the club’s good name is being used.
