Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche has admitted they are confident that they can secure a long-term deal for Leeds United defender Robin Koch.
Krösche has been speaking to Sport 1 regarding the situation at his club at this moment in time following a busy summer of rebuilding the squad.
One of the players to arrive was Robin Koch from Leeds, who was signed on a season-long loan deal, taking advantage of a clause in his contract at Elland Road that allowed him to do so following relegation.
His time with Leeds appears to be at an end as his current deal expires at the end of the season, meaning he will be a free agent once his loan deal expires.
It has been made clear on numerous occasions that Frankfurt are keen to sign him on a permanent basis after his impressive performances so far, and it was hinted in the summer they had spent €500,000 on the loan deal as something of a down payment.
Several reports since then have stated they are keen to get a deal wrapped up as soon as possible, with them able to speak to Koch about a pre-contract agreement from January 1st.
Krösche has now admitted they are confident of making that happen, praising the Leeds man for his performances so far.
“We are confident about that,” he said when asked if they can retain the defender long-term.
“I think the transfer was the right step for both sides. We were able to convince Robin of our club so much that he chose us. With his experience he gives us the stability we need.
“Robin’s experience helps Tuta and Willian. I am confident that we will have a lot of fun with Robin for many years to come.”
